Today, Klein Tools, Inc. represents much more than Klein pliers. The company's product line has broadened to include virtually every major type of hand tool used in construction, electronics, mining, and general industry in addition to the electrical and telecommunications fields. Klein Tools also supplies a line of occupational protective equipment, which is exhibited in a separate catalog. Why We Use American Tools Take a look at this article, and others online and you will see that all Steel is not created equal.Click for Article American iron ore is high quality, and although China has been and will continue to import high quality ore from outside sources, low quality ore mined in China is still used to mass produce much of the country's steel products. When you have tools that you use everyday, and you depend on them everyday, you cannot afford to count on inferior products. I remember I bought a set of bolt/nut drivers from a discount import house (will remain unnamed...). After 3 uses, the sockets started stripping. Just for fun, I went back and bought a few other items to "test". I tried a bolt extractor set, masonry bits, and their mid-range screwdriver set (4 piece, 2 philips, 2 flat). The bolt extractor set (claimed it was rated for grade 8 fasteners) disintegrated after 4 minutes of use. The masonry bits were noticeably worn after 3 holes in a cinder block, and the philips screwdriver tips started to to shred with use on some firmly seated screws in my doorframe. Of course, there are many variables to consider, and by all means, this was not a scientific experiment, but it just goes to show that there are definate differences in not just the manufacturing process, but also in the raw materials a company or forge starts with. I've never had
a Klein driver fail on me, nor any other hand tool, and that is why I'll always stand by my Klein Tools. |
